How do I place an order via the website?
To order tickets online, it is important to first create a new account. This is very easy by clicking on 'my schalm' and entering your e-mail address. Then you can order tickets by clicking on 'tickets' at a performance. Within your account you can make your own wish list, and set your preferences for receiving our newsletter. Of course you can also easily change your own data here. Click here for more information.
How do I know if my online order has arrived?
If you book and pay online, you will automatically receive a confirmation by e-mail within a few minutes. If you do not receive a confirmation, the reservation was not successful. If in doubt, please contact the theater box office (sometimes an e-mail address is entered incorrectly, so that the confirmation never ends up in your inbox).
What are the payment options?
At the theater box office, you can pay by cash, debit, credit card and most common vouchers (see also question below). We can also send you an invoice or digital payment link by e-mail. On the website you can pay online with Ideal, credit card, Podiumcadeaukaart, VVV Giftcard, Schalm Voucher or Schalm Support Voucher.
In our theater you can pay contactless everywhere.
Do I pay extra fees when I buy theater tickets?
No. The service fee is included. So you pay no additional costs, except for any shipping costs. If you want your tickets sent to your home, you pay €2.50 shipping costs. Sending e-tickets is free of charge.
Can I cancel my tickets?
You can return your tickets up to 24 hours before the performance*. Rebook them free of charge for another performance, or choose a voucher (minus €2.50 cancellation fee per order). The voucher is valid indefinitely.
For tickets purchased through other sales channels, their rules apply.
*Returns or refunds on tickets already purchased from series are not possible.
We do not take back tickets within 24 hours before the performance. If you can't find anyone who wants to take the tickets from you, you can also safely resell your tickets through TicketSwap. Their rules apply, De Schalm is not responsible for this.
What are e-tickets?
If you buy tickets over the Internet, you have the option of choosing an electronic ticket: an e-ticket. After payment you will receive an e-mail with PDF attachment. It contains all your tickets. You can print them out or show them on your mobile in the theater. So you don't have to exchange anything at the theater box office. Note: 1 seat = 1 page!
I have bought 2 tickets, with seat numbers 18 and 20. Are we sitting next to each other?
Yes. You will definitely sit next to each other in that case. Our Grote Zaal is divided into even and odd numbers as far as seat numbers are concerned. Each row starts with odd numbers on the right (1,3,5, etc) and even numbers on the left (2,4,6, etc).
The seat numbering in the Lindenzaal is ascending. Chair 1 and 2 are next to each other there.
Do I need a ticket for my toddler?
Yes. Everyone attending a performance needs a ticket. Feel free to take toddlers or preschoolers on your lap, but they also always have their own seat.
TYPES OF SEATS
What does it mean when a show has standing places (staanplaatsen)?
For a limited number of performances, the auditorium seating is retracted, creating room for standing places. You can find this online and in the brochure under the relevant performances.
If the balcony in the Grote Zaal is not open, there are only standing places availlable for this show. If the balcony is open, you have the option to sit there. When the auditorium in the Lindenzaal is retracted, there will be no seating available.
A show with standing places is indicated, both online as in our brochure, as 'Vlakke Zaal'.
Are there booster seats available?
Yes. At all youth performances you can use booster seats for children. You will find these booster seats at the auditorium entrances.
If you visit De Schalm with small children, it is not always necessary to use booster seats. Almost every row is positioned so that even small children have good visibility. The rows where booster seats are recommended: Grote Zaal rows 1 and 2 and the side balconies.
ACCESSIBILTY
I am disabled. How does ordering tickets work then?
In our Grote Zaal and Lindenzaal, special places are reserved for the disabled (f.i. wheelchair spaces and places with extra space). If you want to make use of this, please contact our theater box office. These places cannot be reserved online.
I have of hearing problems. How can I still listen to the performance properly?
For many hearing-impaired people, going to a theater performance is not a natural experience. We have a new auditory system to make your theater experience as optimal as possible.
Theater de Schalm has sound amplification equipment of the brand Audio Technica 3000 series (ATW-R3250). At the theater box office you can indicate that you want to use our auditory system and you will receive a receiver with neckband headphones or ear buds. You can also use your own headphones provided they have a mini-jack connection. The ear buds can be connected to your hearing aid provided it has a T-position. There are separate receivers for the Grote Zaal and the Lindenzaal.
At the distribution point you will be given an explanation of how to turn the sound up and down and it is possible to test it before entering the hall.
You can use this free of charge. After the performance you can return the equipment at the cloakroom.
I am highly sensitive, do you take this into account?
At some shows, we have several options for people that are highly sensitive. For instance, before these shows you can use a separate entrance and a separate waiting room. Also, we will get you a seat close to the exit and without to much distraction of other persons passing by.
Please note that we can not change of influence the show itself, although we do try to select more quiet shows in our selection for persons with high sensitivity.
If you are interested in visiting a show in this selection, please contact our Theaterkassa (040-253 35 78 or reserveringen@deschalm.com). More information is also to be found here.

OTHER QUESTIONS
Is there an intermission during the performance?
Not every performance includes an intermission. Whether there is an intermission is determined by the company. The service email you receive prior to the performance will tell you if there is an intermission.
Where can I find the ending times of theater performances?
You will see the ending times of theater performances as soon as they are known on our website and upon entering the theater, on the evening itself. It is also in the service email that De Schalm sends out a few days before the theater performance (if we know your email address). Of course, you can always contact the Theatre Box Office about this as well.
May I film, photograph or make sound recordings?
Mobile phones and theater do not mix well. In addition to being a nuisance to both the performers and your fellow audience members, phones also interfere with the transmitters of the technical equipment. We therefore request that you turn off your phone during the performance. If an artist indicates that they have no objection, you can make recordings with your phone, without light/flash. We ask you not to disturb other visitors.
What do I do when I am late for the performance?
Please report to a staff member in the foyer upon arrival. In consultation with the artist/company, latecomers may still be able to enter at a convenient time. In order not to disturb the visitors and the performance as much as possible, you may not be able to sit in your own seat. If there is an interval in the performance, you can go to your own seat after the interval. At some performances latecomers are no longer allowed.
I want to visit a show that is sold out. What can I do?
The moment a performance is sold out, you can register yourself for the waiting list. You can indicate this at the performance on the website. If seats become available, we will contact you by telephone (we do not leave a voicemail or send an e-mail). So please give us the phone number where you can best be reached. If you do not hear from us, there are unfortunately no more tickets available for this performance.
My performance has been cancelled. What now?
The programme is subject to change. If a performance is cancelled on content or financial grounds and in consultation with the performing party, we will inform you as soon as possible. In that case, the purchase price of the tickets will be refunded (excluding shipping costs). There is no refund, or any other compensation if the performance is cancelled for reasons not attributable to the theatre. For example, this applies if unforeseen government measures prevent the performance from going ahead.
I want to eat before the performance. Is this possible at the theatre?
Theatre de Schalm has an indoor restaurant, where you can dine prior to the performance (or after in the case of an afternoon performance). The restaurant features an extensive menu and also has a Theatre menu. This is a changing two-course menu with a guarantee that you will be on time for the performance. Reservations can be made via: 040-2541475 or info@burgemister.nl.
D'n Burgemister is open from Wednesday to Sunday.
