Frank Cools is a Flemish actor and singer.

He studied at the Antwerp Conservatory.

Immediately after graduation (1986), he played in the Flemish version of ‘the Taming of the Shrew‘ by Shakespeare, which was directed by Dirk Tanghe.  Followed by an extensive theater tour through Flanders and the Netherlands.

However, Cools then decided to stop acting and started working for Radio 1 (the Flemish radio and television broadcaster) where he worked as a program maker and presenter for 10 years.

But the stage started to beckon again.

He founded his own production house, and once again took up acting, telling stories, writing, singing, and making music, ... for both children and adults. And he is still doing that to this day.
He prefers to create his shows empty-handed and with empty sleeves.
He likes to delve into large, classical texts. For example, he played in the Legend of Beatrijs, Chaucer, Chekhov, Annie M.G. Schmidt, and many more.

And he likes to play old music. Not the obvious songs, but rather songs that make you wonder why he choose to play them. For example, he toured extensively with a show full of sentimental songs about live from the Dutch singer ‘Zangeres Zonder Naam.’ According to Frank Cools a sentimental song and a literary text are a perfect match.

For many years, he has performed in cultural centers, theaters, libraries and festivals in both Flanders and the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, he has been Gerard van Maasakkers' permanent travelling companion for 10 years, both on and off the stage.
