The international folk duo The Coo consists of songwriters Matt Arthur and Jara Holdert. They are living quite a distance apart - in London and Amsterdam- and met by accident at an open mic night in Amsterdam. They immediately felt a musical kinship, which they further developed during overseas visits, while writing songs and performing jointly on stage.

In 2019, The Coo recorded their debut album during a concert in a synagogue in Amsterdam, where they sang about how they met, their kinship and their long-distance friendship.

NativeDSD label awarded ‘Amsterdam Moon’ album of the year. On the album you can hear how two musical souls are finding one another in harmony by means of two guitars and two voices that are intertwining and then breaking apart again.

The warm, melancholic love songs are reminiscent of folk and pop from the sixties and seventies, of artists such as Carole King & James Taylor, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and contemporary bands such as Angus & Julia Stone.
