Hillbilly Hayride is a bluegrass band from the south of the Netherlands. The name actually gives enough away! Besides old-time originals, we like to entertain our audience with footstompin' bluegrass from less bygone eras.

Furthermore, we are not averse to a bit of sweet hillbilly. Even though we sing about broken hearts, booze and other misery, this music will make you happy! From The Carter Family to the Hackensaw Boys, via Dolly Parton back to Old Crow Medicine Show. Yeeha! You can yell.

On stage, we go for it. With infectious enthusiasm, we serve this music the way it should be: pure and sincere. Polyphonic vocals complete the sound of banjo, mandolin, double bass, guitar and pedal steel.

That we can empathise with this music from rural America is actually not surprising. Except for our lap steel barber, we come straight from the Peel. Moonshiners just become gin distillers! A hayride was the harvest festival when bringing in the first bale of hay. So what's the difference with an asparagus festival? We're gonna raise a ruckus tonight!

Hillbilly Hayride has now performed at some great festivals, such as Cajun Moon, Parkfest, the Johnny Cash Memorial Show and Nirwana Garden Party. We also performed at Café Wilhelmina, the Bosuil and the Effenaar.
